‘Just Leave Daddy Be’ is a documentary about the twelve year old Melvin, whose stepfather Hans has a personality disorder.
During almost two years director Debbie Kleijn filmed the family in their daily struggle to cope with the problems of Hans. The documentary unravels the vulnerability of children in problematic family situations. While the adults are entangled in their own problems, the young Melvin keeps his worries to himself.

It describes the endless work on the road in a world of hot asphalt, steel, heavy machinery and passing traffic. Supported by an industrial soundscape of the machinery and minimal electronic music, this cinematic short captures the sci-fi world these men work in.

DE SLEUTELHANGER (THE KEYRING) 2006
A short documentary portrait of Huibert-Jan Groenendijk, owner of a cigar shop in Rotterdam. Victim of as many as 23 hold-ups in 15 years, he is not allowed to carry a weapon to protect his shop, though a key ring is allowed of course. By the advice of the police he uses a baseball bat for his keys as well as his protection.

ANDREW & RASA, A MODERN LOVESTORY (2002)
Rasa is a Lithuanian woman selling her body for heroin and cocaine. The drugs cause wounds in her gaunt face and aggravate her epilepsy to boot. Her boyfriend Andrew is a smooth talker from Surinam who thinks he can earn enough money to get them out of their sad straits by smuggling XTC to the United States. Things do not go as hoped for, and at one stage they are both in prison. Even there, they are filmed by the crew of director Roy Dames, who follows their troublesome but indestructible relationship for one year. He interviews them, watches them collapse, start again, and collapse again. Indirectly, his film is also a portrait of the Rotterdam Paulus Church and its indefatigable staff members, who have to make tough decisions in their attempts to keep people on their feet.
