‘Just Leave Daddy Be’ is a documentary about the twelve year old Melvin, whose stepfather Hans has a personality disorder.

During almost two years director Debbie Kleijn filmed the family in their daily struggle to cope with the problems of Hans. The documentary unravels the vulnerability of children in problematic family situations. While the adults are entangled in their own problems, the young Melvin keeps his worries to himself.

Roadworkers is a short, visual documentary about the strange and almost surreal world of the roadworker. It describes the endless work on the road in a world of hot asphalt, steel, heavy machinery and passing traffic. Supported by an industrial soundscape of the machinery and minimal electronic music, this cinematic short captures the sci-fi world these men work in.

A short documentary portrait of Huibert-Jan Groenendijk, owner of a cigar shop in Rotterdam. Victim of as many as 23 hold-ups in 15 years, he is not allowed to carry a weapon to protect his shop, though a key ring is allowed of course. By the advice of the police he uses a baseball bat for his keys as well as his protection.

The short documentary ‘Glazenwassers’ (Window-cleaners) is an intimate and cinematic observation of the daily reality of six window-cleaners. A world full of ladders, water, glass, physical exertion and large heights. 'Glazenwassers' shows an enlargement of details and actions of the window-cleaner within the typical cityscape of Rotterdam.
